ExWis2025

We are pleased to share exciting news with you: our project Wissen im Exil – From Loss to Responsibility has been officially approved! This is the first budgeted initiative of our association, supported by Engagement Global with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Throughout December, AAR will host a series of events focusing on how forced migration and conflict disrupt scientific work, how knowledge becomes displaced, and how global knowledge cooperation can be made more just and sustainable.

We are delighted to invite you to our two upcoming online panels:

Panel 1 – Knowledge Interrupted: Global Perspectives on Science and Migration
12 December 2025, 20:00 CET
We will discuss how forced migration interrupts academic work and what this means for global knowledge systems.
Registration is now open — you can secure your place via the “reserve a slot” button at:

In addition to these events, we will run a social media awareness campaign related to the project’s themes.
The approval of this project marks an important milestone for AAR: it significantly strengthens our international visibility and provides a valuable opportunity to amplify the experiences of at-risk academics and their contributions to global knowledge production.
