Der aktualisierte Index der akademischen Freiheit (Academic Freedom Index-AFI) wurde im März 2021 veröffentlicht. Academics at Risk Platform Report, December 2020 Erdogan Regime declared the state of emergency on 20 July 2016, by accusing the Gülen Movement of being responsible for the coup attempt to be able to effectively fight against Gülen Movement and other opposition groups. All those who are associated with the so-called attempted coup and who are seen as oppositional to the government are subject to a systematic purge.  Interrogation, arrests and detention are carried out.  Fundamental rights have been abolished, tens of thousands of innocent judges, prosecutors, journalists, academics and teachers are being detained.  One suspicion is sufficient to be seen as a government opposition.
